Stop ADA Abuse in California. Tell these representatives to vote YES on SB 783

Attention Californians, mobilize! Take two minutes, call or email these legislators and tell them to vote YES on SB 783 which will reform fraudulent ADA lawsuits against small businesses.

Cut and paste this in your email...
Senator
Vote YES on SB 783. Stop punishing honest business owners. More than 14,000 ADA/accessibility lawsuits have been filed in California in just the past few years by a small number of lawyers. Many firms have closed, dismissed employees or sought bankruptcy protection as a result. Please vote YES on SB 783 to protect our small businesses.

Committee Chair: Senator Noreen Evans - 916.651.4002 and senator.evans@senate.ca.gov
Senator Mark Leno - 916.651.4003 and senator.leno@senate.ca.gov
Senator Ellen Corbett - 916.651.4010 and senator.corbett@senate.ca.gov

SB 783 says a 30-day notice must be given to a business who is violating a procedural requirement of California's civil rights and/or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in state-owned facilities. If correction of the violation does not occur by the end of the additional 120 days and the owner fails to provide a satisfactory explanation, the claimant would be permitted to file the claim.

This is not saying businesses cannot be sued. They can be sued. It's just giving them time to fix the problem before lawyers have to get involved. Currently, a business can be hit with a lawsuit for not being in compliance with one of the 1000's of ADA laws, and the business owner must pay legal fees without an opportunity to address the problem. Lawyers do not want this to pass because they make so much money from it. If you don't take two minutes to email these 3 senators right now, you have no business complaining about anything political, ever again, for the rest of your life.
