Two friends and I just got back from camping at Barrett Lake Trail, which is up Highway 50 in Northern CA, near Lake Tahoe.
Let me start off by saying that a few parts of the Barrett Lake Trail is not for the timid. My novice wheeling buddy who I was riding with had an 83 C.J. Jeep, 35in. tires and a heavily modified suspension/engine. My other buddy had an 87 CJ with 39.5in. tires, needless to say heavily modified.

These 2 buddies that I went on this trip with are part of my retreat group, and it was wonderful practice on living 'off grid'. So even though it was a luxury, it did have SOMETHING to do with survival.
