Keeping People's Computers Clean...And Yours

I don't know if God gave me this as a gift or a curse, but when I go to someone's house, I obsess about cleaning out the 'gunk' from their computer. All of the cookies and spyware and B.S. that slows their computer down. I absolutely love to help them do that, and make their computer run more efficiently. I guess it's my charity, it's me riding the karma train.

I'm going to tell you the single best product (no, I'm not being endorsed or making off of them in any way for this plug) that will clean your, or somebody elses computer. I learned of this program from a former friend who is a software engineer, and one of the founders of silicone valley. Former because through my lack of effort to keep in contact, not his, we grew apart, as do so many people in my life.

ACE Utilities is the program. Download it now. Buy it now. It's only $29.99, and that gives you lifetime updates. It's the single most effective program I've ever seen to clean up your computer. My silicone valley friend turned me on to it. When I go to somebody's house, I either download the trial version, which is free, but only lasts for 30 days, but it at least let's me get the gunk out once or twice. Trust me, get this program, it's cheap and it works amazingly!

Another program, which almost sickens me to post on here, because the previous version was soo much better, is Ad-Aware. I'm sure many of you have heard of it. It sickens me to put it on here because the old version was free and powerful. The new version pretends to be powerful, but isn't until you pay like $50 or something to get the full version. Anyways, it's still a good product to have in your toolbox.

And of course, be sure to defragment your hard drive from time to time. This moves the files around on your hard drive so that they can found (accessed) easier and faster.

This ties in to survival because if your computer isn't working as fast as it should, you can't read updates of The Aspiring Survivalist as quickly ;)
